EDUCATION HISTORY

My early childhood education was all in Singapore at the Anglo Chinese Primary School and later to the Anglo Chinese Secondary School (ACS) and then to the National Junior College (NJC). I later obtained my Bachelor of Computer (Computer Science) degree from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and later in life, I obtained my Master of Science (MSc) in Information Systems from Pace University in New York, USA.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

I am an advocate for lifelong learning and thus spend a considerable amount of time getting relevant certifications. Some of the recent certification I am getting is the Advanced Certificate in Learning & Performance (ACLP) and attending a course on Future Ready Leadership at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School.

I have spent the last 27 years working on both side of the fence at both technology vendors and with end-user environments. I have also spent time in multiple industries spanning public sector to manufacturing and financial services. Here are some of the major jobs I have held.

Chief Information Officer (CIO) at DFI Retail Group covering multiple businesses over 11 countries.

Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at NE Digital, the digital arm of NTUC Enterprise.

Director, Government Cybersecurity Operations at the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech).

Director, Enterprise Architecture & Integration, at Essilor AMERA Pte Ltd.

Multiple roles from Social Business Evangelist to Lead for the ASEAN Security Business at IBM.

Education Journey

Early Education

Completed my early childhood education at Anglo Chinese School (Primary & Secondary) and later my A-Levels at National Junior College in Singapore.

Till 1988

Basic Airborne Course

As a member of the Singapore Armed Forces Commando Unit, I got my Airborne wings in 1989.

1989

Bachelor of Computing (Computer Science)

Obtained my Bachelor of Computing degree from Monash University in Victoria, Australia. I majored in computer science with a minor in Business Management. In 1995, I create a neural network program to be trained to read yet from a broken printer.

1995

Certified Openwater Instructor

In 1996, I got certified as an Openwater Instructor under Scuba Schools International and have accumulated more than 3000 dives and certified more than 200 students since then.

1996

Masters of Science (Information Systems)

I obtain my Masters of Science in Information Systems from Pace University in New York. During this time, I developed a method to perform transaction over Web services before standards were developed.

2004

CISSP

Obtained my 1st security certification when I got my CISSP while working in the financial sector in New York City.

2006

Certified SOA Solutions Designer

>When I was part of the pioneer SOA team in IBM, I took this certification to showcase skills around Service Oriented Architecture.

2008

1st Published Patent

1st published patent on Method and Apparatus to Automatically Update Calendar Events based on Real-time Tele-Conference. (IP.COM disclosure number: IPCOM000183540D)
